         Treat early.

         No 'new' hiking shoes.

2.  Hydration, hydration, hydration

3.  SunProtection:

          Sunscreen.

          Wear hats and long sleeves.

          Ibuprofen in Sunburn Prevention.

4.  Start walking and hiking NOW.  Get used to and in shape for 14 mile hike.
